Positive Prevention Education
CYM is contracted with Kings Canyon Unified School District to do all Positive Prevention Education for grades 5-8th. See below for an overview of the curriculum. If you are a parent and have any questions or concerns, you can e-mail our Positive Prevention Coordinator, Michelle Jones.
Student Curriculum Overview: (Based on Positive Prevention & Best Practices)
5th Grade: 60 minutes: body image, puberty, right to body privacy
6th Grade: 1-week program: refusal skills in nonsexual context, puberty, body image
7th Grade: 1-week program: HIV/STD prevention, decision making, refusal skills
8th Grade: 1-week program: HIV/STD prevention, decision making, goal-setting, violence prevention
